An eccentric inventor named Caractacus Potts starts restoring an old race car from parts from a scrap heap. With the help of his children Jeremy and Jemima, they soon discover the car has magical powers including the ability to sail upon the water as well as fly.

Trouble occurs when the evil Baron Bomburst desires the magic car for himself. The family joins forces with the lovely candy maker Truly Scrumptious and their own batty Grandpa Potts to outwit the dastardly Baron and Baroness. But surely none can forget the scare of their villainous henchman....the Child Catcher.
