Set in a beauty shop in Chinquapin, Louisiana, where all the ladies who are "anybody" come to have their hair done, this remarkable story is based on the tragic experience of the author's sister. She died at an early age as a result of complications caused by diabetes following the birth of her only child. It was truly an emotionally charged and  wonderfully moving theater experience.
