We are excited to announce auditions for CAP Jr's production of The LIttle Mermaid!  Performances will be March 10, 11, and 12, 2023.  Rehearsals will likely be Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays (subject to change). Auditions are open to anyone in grades 3-8.  Please look this over carefully as there is a lot of information.

Auditions will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church on Jan. 9 and 11.  You only need to come to ONE day.  There is a sign-up genius HERE where you can sign up for a time slot.

Students are expected to do an acting and a singing audition and may also be asked to do some dance or movement.

For the acting audition: The audition scenes can be found listed here.

Audition scene 1

Audition scene 2

Audition scene 3

Actors will be asked to read from one or more scenes at the audition and may be asked to read for any character.  Students do not need to memorize any lines, although it is certainly recommended that the actors become familiar with the characters and lines.  The director will be looking for strong character choices, projection, and lots of facial expressions.

For the singing audition: Students are expected to learn pieces from ONE of the song choices listed below.

Girls may choose ANY of the songs: "Part of Your World," "Poor Unfortunate Souls," "Under the Sea," or "Kiss the Girl."

Boys may choose either "Under the Sea" or "Kiss the Girl."

It is recommended that students memorize their audition piece, although lyrics will be provided at the audition if necessary.  The videos on the youtube channel will make clear exactly how much of the song needs to be learned.  Anyone who wants to learn and sing the whole song can do so (contact Alex for more information about this as students will need to learn the correct version of the song).  We will provide all music tracks at the audition.  The actors can choose to audition either with vocals or without vocals, depending on how comfortable they feel singing.  The director will be looking for singing on key, projecting, and acting while singing.  All song choices can be found at the youtube channel here:

We are looking forward to seeing everyone in January!
