Audition Details for Junie B. Jones: The Musical, Jr.

This year we are excited to announce that we will be performing Junie B. Jones: The Musical, Jr.  In order to ensure the health and safety of our staff and volunteers, we are requesting that everyone who participates be vaccinated against Covid (minimum of two doses).

Auditions will occur on March 21 and 22 at Lima Township Hall just outside of town.

On the day of auditions, participants will be asked to sing a portion of a song and to read from one or more audition scenes.

The sign-up genius is here:

Actors need only come to one audition day.

The audition scenes are linked here.  Actors are not required to memorize any lines, but becoming familiar with the lines and developing a character is strongly recommended.  The directors will be looking for confidence, a strong character choice, facial expressions, and volume.  Actors may be asked to read any one, two, or three of the following scenes:

All actors -- and especially those who want to be considered for leads -- are strongly encouraged to sing one of the songs we have chosen for their audition song.  We choose songs from the show because we need to hear how each singer sounds with the actual material that they will be singing in the show.  We have created practice videos so actors can practice at home and feel comfortable with the material before coming in.  At auditions, we will have versions of the songs both with and without vocals, and each actor can choose which one he/she would prefer to sing to.  These are the choices:

"Top Secret Personal Beeswax" -- for girls only, and especially recommended for anyone wanting to be considered for the role of Junie B.

"Make Lemonade" -- this song can be sung by either boys or girls.

"Sheldon Potts' Halftime Show" -- this song is sung by a boy character, so is a choice for male actors.  However, any girl who doesn't mind playing a boy could opt to sing this song as her choice.
